Naasu Ensah, the complainant in an ongoing wounding and assault case at a Magistrate’s court in Freetown has testified that while she was fighting with the second of two accused persons, Boitia Petan Sandi( daughter of the first accused) the first accused, Dr. Salmata Ibrahim “stabbed” her on the forehead with a shovel multiple times.
The 21-year-old told the court on Thursday 7th December 2023, that while the first accused, a lecturer at Fourah Bay College (FBC) was busy stabbing her with the shovel, her son was also punching her. She said the incident occurred on the 28th of July this year while she was laundering her clothes at their home, at Flat 40 Kortright, Fourah Bay College campus.
According to her it was a rainy day and went out to urinate by the window of her elder brother’s place in the course of doing that the first accused, who is their neighbor saw her and started using abusive language against her and her aunt, also a lecturer at FBC, accusing her (the complainant) of causing the environment to stink. She said the second accused came out of their house and poured water on her to which she retaliated. She said both accused persons threw missiles (stones) at her but they missed their target.
Naasu Ensah said the second accused came up to her while she was doing her laundry and started a fight with her and that it was during the fight that the first accused intervened by stabbing her with a shovel.
Magistrate, Peter Brima Gogra warned the complainant not to mention the action of the son of the accused because his name was not mentioned in the case file.
The case resumes on 14th December this year for the defence to cross-examine the complainant.
