One of the leading telecommunications company in Sierra Leone, Africell, has doled out 84 prizes to winners of the ongoing “Okada Bomba” promotion at the company’s headquarters at Wilberforce in Freetown.
Presenting the prizes to the winners, Africell’s Administrative Director, Abdul Aziz Gabisi commended them for successfully taking part in the ongoing promotion and encouraged more subscribers to take part in the promotion to enable them win wonderful prizes.
He said subscribers who were joining the Africell family for the first time, would be automatically eligible to take part in the draw and would also have two chances in that particular draw.
Gabisi said the ‘okada bomba’ was an ongoing promotion that offered Africell’s subscribers across the country the opportunity to win one motorbike taxi (okada) everyday, while other prizes include Le1 million daily, and AF1 phones.
The director reminded the winners and the general public that there was a provision in the Finance Act 2008 that any lottery winning totaling Le 500,000 and above was subject to a 10% lottery tax reduction.
“We have already deducted this tax from all winnings in this category and we will pay them to the national revenue authority”, he said.
For the week ending Saturday, seven people won cash prizes of Le1 million each, 70 AF 1 phones and seven motorbikes.
One of the winners, Mohamed Conteh, expressed appreciation for the prize and commended Africell for holding such a promotion.
