Ibrahim Babatunde Sesay who is a presidential candidate in the coming executive election of the Sport Writers Association of Sierra Leone has told Politico that if elected he will "unify SWASAL and accelerate its development."
With less than two weeks to the event, he said his other priorities include "building the capacity of our members, decentralising our operations and instilling a culture of transparency and accountability, and gender equity in SWASAL.
The editor of Satellite newspaper said he intends to encourage the diversification of sports coverage away from the present over-concentration on football and promised to establish a "strong working relationship with the Ministry of Sport, Universities, individuals and corporate sponsors at home and abroad.
On his decentralisation drive Babatunde said the chairmen of all the regions would be encouraged to develop and present a budget to the national office for "organisational training for Sports Writers in their respective regions, and such innovations will not materialise if there are no sponsors...I will work with state and non-state institutions to achieve that."
