By Chernor Alimamy Kamara

Bo Rangers Football Club in a letter addressed to Musa N. Kamara aka Musa Tombo  have terminated the player’s contract with the club effective 1st September, 2022.

According to the letter, the action was due to what they referred to his failure, refusal and/or neglect to ‘conform’ to established standards of good moral character and sportsmanship which the club described as reasonably excusable.

The letter went further to note that, Musa’s “whacky attitude has been like a scar on the conscience of the club” which has caused so much reputational damage to both the club and in particular the club’s  Chairman Babadi  Kamara.

It added that they had tried the best they could to prevent such occurrences, noting that the circumstances they have before them were unavoidable which prompted them to sever ties with the player. The club urged the player to return any club materials and/or equipment in his possession during the time of his contract with the club, noting that they expect to receive the said items not later than a week upon receiving the letter.

The club, in the letter expressed their appreciation with the relationship they have enjoyed with the player over the years.

Babadi Kamara in an interview noted that, they will not allow one individual to destroy the image of the club. He pointed to ‘Tombo’s’ recent behavior towards the National Team and the club which he said prompted them to terminate his contract so that the club will remain in a very professional manner.

“Musa’s age and behavior are not matching together and most people are using that as an advantage. How someone could be playing for a national team and someone called him to withdraw from the national service to play mini-leagues,” he said.

He said it was not an easy task to cajole Musa to represent the national team in Liberia, saying he could be easily manipulated to behave otherwise.

He explained that, Musa was coming from Liberia, and as they arrived in Bo, he demanded that he be allowed to disembark down which he said the officials refused to do so, saying they would be playing their return leg away to Mali within a short time. He said, he was in Bo when he heard the news of Musa’s reluctance to travel with the team to Kenema which he said, he immediately asked him on phone why he didn’t travel to Kenema with the team. He said the player responded that he will be travelling to Freetown to sign contract with Orange mobile company and promised to return the next morning.

“I told him to stop in Bo whiles traveling to Kenema and he accepted to do so. I was waiting for him for the rest of the day of Monday 29th August, 2022 and he was not even answering to my calls neither responding to my text messages,” said Kamara.

Kamara stated that Musa’s wife is always claiming that clubs are showing interest in Musa and that Bo Rangers don’t want to sell him to those clubs. He confirmed that the latest club that showed interest for Musa is a Libyan club.

“Bo Rangers as a Football club has an agent in the United Kingdom who is a Football administrator. When the Libyan club showed interest for Musa, I referred the dignitaries from the Libyan club to our Agent who is handling all transfer matters for Bo Rangers. The Libyan people were in contact with our agent when they wrote a letter to the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to issue a transfer certificate to Musa that will allow him to move to another club, which I urged SLFA not to do so due to the illegality of the contract,” he said.

He said, he was surprised to see the Libyan club uploading in their website that they have signed Musa as their player, something he said, they were not aware of.

Musa has been surrounded with lots of controversies for some time now.
