The Always Work With Others (AWWO) Foundation has fed over 1,000 (one thousand) vulnerable children at the Grassfield playing field over the holidays.
The event was co- funded by a Norwegian company named Bravura.
According to the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AWWO, Umar Fuad Bawoh, they made a promise that every Christmas they will feed over 1,000 (one thousand) vulnerable children. He noted that, the feeding programme actually commenced way back in 2017.
He also said that this time round unlike the previous years, they decided to seek for funds from a Norwegian Company named Bravura where he happened to be the Country Manager to assist with the feeding project.
CEO Bawoh noted that, they are working in partnership with different organizations for the development of the community. He stated that, it is a wakeup call for philanthropists to come forward and help these kids.
He disassociated the organization from any political party affiliation and encouraged other organizations and well meaning Sierra Leoneans to do likewise.
The General Overseer of Christ Charismatic Cathedral who also serves as the National Coordinator of AWWO, Pastor Dr. Samuel Deffie pointed out that, the feeding programme was historic and empirical as he said the best way to reach to the world is through kindness. He said hope for the day for many children must start with a meal.
He said, they themselves as organizers of the event have been through hunger, so he said the best way to alleviate the suffering in the country was to address the issue of hunger.
“It was through that notion we realized that it will be prudent to feed these kids in the community in a day like this where the rich kids are in the beaches enjoying with their parents and the poor are languishing at their various homes with hunger,” he said.
