The world governing football body, FIFA has threatened to ban Sierra Leone from all FIFA and CAF competitions if the interim body of the Sierra Leone Football Association headed by Alhaji Unisa Alim Sesay "continues to recognise the outcome of the so-called Congress of December 20th 2014". The threat was contained in a letter to the National Sports Council of Sierra Leone which backs the interim body.
The chairman of the Sports Council Paul Kamara told Politico that the stands remains firm on its decision to support the decision of the clubs to dissolve the SLFA executive headed by Isha Johansen, despite the threat from FIFA.
He said FIFA's intervention amounted to third party interference in the present situation because it was an internal matter. Kamara said, "we are expecting FIFA to stay neutral and try to monitor the situation on the ground but they failed to do that as they are receiving correspondences from the dissolved executive committee that is not giving FIFA the correct information about the present situation".
The minister stressed that the clubs were the members that make up the SLFA and that their decisions were final. "FIFA has violated Article 13 and 17 of the FIFA statues which states that members should manage their internal affairs independently and with no influence from third party".
