Executive Director of the Standards Bureau has commended food and alcohol producer, G. Shankerdas, for being accredited for “globally acceptable food safety quality and management” after an international process guided by renowned consultant and trainer Dr. Ajay Desai.
James Dumbuya said his organisation has been working over the past years to ensure that they monitor and evaluate all products of the company and to ensure that the product was of high quality and up to standards.
He said they looked forward to working with other companies to bring them up to standards.
Speaking at a news conference in Freetown the company's Managing Director, Dr. Kishore Shankerdas, expressed joy at “receiving such an international accreditation as a local Sierra Leonean company”.
He said his company owned “an in-house chemical and Microbial Testing Laboratory and we are the first laboratory to be accredited with ISO 9001 and 17025 for Quality Management System and best Laboratory Practice in the country”.
Dr. Shankerdas said “the accolade has been achieved due to our hard work and determination to ensure that we provide the best and with quality standards for not only the people of Sierra Leone but for international consumption”.
Chief Director in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ahmad Akar, said his ministry was “not too surprised” to learn that G. Shankerdas had been awarded because “we have been monitoring them rigorously over the past years”.
