A 58-year-old man has admitted killing one Isha Saidu Hughes, his kid sister before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Ross Road on Tuesday 22nd August 2023.
Sulaiman Conteh asked for forgiveness from his family members saying that what he did was wrong also pleaded for mercy from the magistrate, noting that the allegations levied against him are true but that he only used a hammer and a kitchen knife to commit the murder contrary to the police statement that he also used a machete.
The accused spoke up after the fifth prosecution witness, Sergeant 5877 Alimamy Kamara, who is the Exhibit Clerk attached to the Kissy Police Division, tendered the bloodstained weapons with which the deceased was allegedly killed in court.
The police prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohamed B. Conteh then told the court that he had closed his case.
Meanwhile, two seven year old-witnesses, who were said to be the only people present during the incident, had separately testified that they heard the deceased begging the accused not to kill her.
They also jointly testified seeing the accused hitting and stabbing the head of the deceased on the veranda of the house and that he chased the deceased to the bathroom where he finally killed her. One of the children added that the accused continued stabbing the deceased even when she had died.
The accused person who has no lawyer faces one count of murder that he is alleged to have committed on Friday 14 July 2023 No. 6A Savage Street Wellington in Freetown.
