Sierra Leone recorded 0.25% and 0.46% increase in COVID-19 total infections and total recoveries respectively over the week, from August 22 to August 29, 2021.
In comparison, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total infections was lower compared to Benin (31.26%), Burkina Faso (0.44%), Cape Verde (1.33%), Ivory Coast (2.62%), Gambia (1.80%), Ghana (3.23%), Guinea (1.96%), Guinea-Bissau (4.53%), Mali (0.66%), Niger (1.14%), Nigeria (2.33%), Senegal (1.18%), Togo (8.21%), the Manor River Union or MRU (2.11%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (2.88%), Africa (3.23%), Europe (1.66%), North America (2.96%), South America (0.72%), Asia (2.68%) and the world (2.17%). Liberia recorded zero increase in total infections.
Guinea-Bissau (17.17%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total deaths compared to Benin (7.56%), Cape Verde (1.99%), Ivory Coast (9.00%), Gambia (9.12%), Ghana (4.89%), Guinea (5.84%), Mali (0.56%), Niger (1.02%), Nigeria (4.47%), Senegal (5.00%), Togo (2.91%), MRU (5.49%), ECOWAS (4.56%), Africa (2.94%), Europe (0.89%), North America (1.70%), South America (0.69%), Asia (3.10%) and the world (1.61%). Burkina Faso, Liberia and Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.
Moreover, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Benin (5.38%), Cape Verde (0.89%), Ivory Coast (1.75%), Gambia (3.96%), Ghana (2.85%), Guinea (2.44%), Guinea-Bissau (4.30%), Niger (0.55%), Nigeria (5.78%), Senegal (6.44%), Togo (3.36%), MRU (1.84%), ECOWAS (3.82%), Africa (3.52%), Europe (2.06%), North America (1.63%), South America (0.89%), Asia (2.77%) and the world (2.05%). However, percentage increase in total recoveries was lower in Burkina Faso (0.27%) and Mali (0.20%) compared to Sierra Leone. Liberia recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
