SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (02/10/20)

Sierra Leone recorded 0.72% and 0.36% increase in COVID-19 total cases and total deaths respectively in 48 hours, from Tuesday (10:00 am) to Thursday (10:00 am).

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s increase in total cases was lower compared to Benin (0.73%), Burkina Faso (1.38%), Cape Verde (3.56%), Mali (0.91%), Togo (2.00%), Africa (1.11%), Europe (2.62%), North America (1.23%), South America (0.42%), Asia (2.28%) and the World (1.82%). However, increase in total cases in Ivory Coast (0.43%), Gambia (0.28%), Ghana (0.39%), Guinea (0.51%), Liberia (0.07%), Niger (0.08%), Nigeria (0.66%), Senegal (0.42%), Manor River Union or MRU (0.46%) and the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.63%) were lower compared to Sierra Leone. Guinea-Bissau recorded zero increase in total cases.

Benin (2.50%) recorded the highest increase in total deaths compared to Burkina Faso (1.75%), Cape Verde (1.69%), Gambia (0.90%), Ghana (0.67%), Mali (0.77%), Nigeria (0.09%), Senegal (0.65%), Togo (2.13%), ECOWAS (0.42%), Africa (1.15%), Europe (0.74%), North America (1.04%), South America (1.35%), Asia (1.92%) and the World (1.22%). Ivory Coast, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Niger, Sierra Leone and MRU recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Benin (0.66%), Burkina Faso (4.38%), Cape Verde (2.79%), Ivory Coast (0.46%), Guinea (0.56%), Mali (0.57%), Nigeria (0.93%), Senegal (1.68%), Togo (0.90%), MRU (0.47%), ECOWAS (0.75%), Africa (1.21%), Europe (1.63%), North America (2.03%), South America (2.30%), Asia (2.60%) and the World (2.22%). Increase in recoveries in Ghana (0.24%) was lower compared to Sierra Leone. Niger (0.36%) recorded the same increase in recoveries as Sierra Leone. Gambia, Guinea-Bissau and Liberia recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
