SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (19/03/21)

Sierra Leone recorded 0.10% and 0.11% increase in COVID-19 total cases and total deaths respectively in 48 hours, from Tuesday (10:00 am) to Thursday (10:00 am).

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total cases was lower compared to Burkina Faso (0.17%), Cape Verde (0.81%), Ivory Coast (0.99%), Gambia (1.32%), Ghana (0.50%), Guinea (2.43%), Guinea-Bissau (1.19%), Liberia (0.59%), Mali (1.49%), Niger (0.80%), Nigeria (0.23%), Senegal (0.70%), Togo (3.04%), the Manor River Union or MRU (1.33%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.62%), Africa (0.49%), Europe (1.10%), North America (0.52%), South America (1.23%), Asia (0.85%) and the world (0.88%). Benin recorded zero increase in total cases.

Guinea-Bissau (3.85%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total deaths compared to Cape Verde (1.28%), Ivory Coast (0.47%), Gambia (3.27%), Ghana (2.03%), Guinea (2.91%), Mali (0.55%), Niger (1.65%), Nigeria (0.55%), Senegal (1.23%), Togo (2.08%), MRU (0.83%), ECOWAS (1.06%), Africa (0.54%), Europe (0.87%), North America (0.48%), South America (1.36%), Asia (0.46%) and the world (0.77%). Benin, Burkina Faso, Liberia and Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Cape Verde (0.57%), Ivory Coast (2.52%), Gambia (2.10%), Ghana (0.57%), Guinea (1.31%), Guinea-Bissau (1.31%), Mali (0.69%), Niger (0.40%), Nigeria (0.44%), Senegal (1.71%), Togo (3.13%), MRU (1.96%), ECOWAS (0.87%), Africa (0.51%), Europe (0.73%), North America (0.70%), South America (1.31%), Asia (0.67%) and the world (0.80%). Percentage increase in total recoveries was lower in Burkina Faso (0.03%) compared to Sierra Leone. Benin and Liberia recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
