SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (22/11/21)

Sierra Leone recorded 0.06% and 0.09% increase in total infections and recoveries respectively over the week, from November 14-21.

In comparison, Sierra Leone recorded the lowest percentage increase in COVID-19 infections compared to Burkina Faso (1.52%), Cape Verde (0.08%), Ivory Coast (0.12%), Guinea (1.12%), Mali (1.66%), Niger (1.86%), Nigeria (0.19%), Togo (0.20%), the Manor River Union or MRU (0.08%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.21%), Africa (0.28%), Europe (3.35%), North America (1.27%), South America (0.33%), Asia (0.77%) and the world (1.49%). Percentage increase in total infections was lower in Benin (0.05%), Liberia (0.02%) and Senegal (0.02%) compared to Sierra Leone. Percentage increase in total infections in Gambia (0.06%) and Ghana (0.06%) was the same as Sierra Leone. Guinea recorded zero increase in total infections.

Burkina Faso (13.25%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total deaths compared to Ghana (0.08%), Guinea-Bissau (2.10%), Mali (1.03%), Niger (3.03%), Nigeria (0.44%), Senegal (0.11%), ECOWAS (0.64%), Africa (0.44%), Europe (2.11%), North America (1.03%), South America (0.21%), Asia (0.85%) and the world (1.06%). Benin, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Togo and MRU recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone recorded the lowest percentage increase in total recoveries compared to Burkina Faso (1.19%), Cape Verde (0.14%), Ivory Coast (0.27%), Gambia (0.10%), Ghana (0.28%), Guinea-Bissau (2.64%), Liberia (1.19%), Mali (1.03%), Niger (2.11%), Nigeria (0.48%), Togo (0.10%), MRU (0.23%), ECOWAS (0.36%), Africa (0.39%), Europe (2.56%), North America (1.32%), South America (0.33%), Asia (0.92%) and the world (1.33%). Percentage increase in total recoveries in Senegal (0.02%) was lower compared to Sierra Leone. Benin and Guinea recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
