SANUSI COVID-19 indices update (27/09/21)

Sierra Leone recorded 0.02% and 0.14% increase in COVID-19 total infections and total recoveries respectively over the week, from September 19-26, 2021.

In comparison, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total infections was lower compared to Benin (7.03%), Burkina Faso (0.76%), Cape Verde (0.94%), Ivory Coast (1.51%), Gambia (0.45%), Ghana (1.29%), Guinea (0.70%), Guinea-Bissau (0.46%), Liberia (0.09%), Mali (0.62%), Niger (0.39%), Nigeria (1.28%), Senegal (0.14%), Togo (2.63%), the Manor River Union or MRU (1.09%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (1.29%), Africa (1.03%), Europe (1.45%), North America (2.08%), South America (0.44%), Asia (1.59%) and the world (1.46%).

Ivory Coast (5.70%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total deaths compared to Benin (5.48%), Burkina Faso (4.65%), Cape Verde (1.52%), Gambia (1.52%), Ghana (2.50%), Guinea (1.89%), Guinea-Bissau (3.85%), Mali (0.37%), Nigeria (0.72%), Senegal (0.54%), Togo (4.23%), MRU (2.92%), ECOWAS (1.53%), Africa (1.34%), Europe (1.02%), North America (1.95%), South America (0.45%), Asia (1.50%) and the world (1.22%). Liberia, Niger and Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.

Moreover, Sierra Leone’s percentage increase in total recoveries was lower compared to Burkina Faso (0.87%), Cape Verde (1.57%), Ivory Coast (1.22%), Gambia (0.46%), Ghana (1.90%), Guinea (1.51%), Guinea-Bissau (1.07%), Mali (0.32%), Niger (0.67%), Nigeria (1.12%), Senegal (3.23%), Togo (9.23%), MRU (1.19%), ECOWAS (1.76%), Africa (1.40%), Europe (1.55%), North America (2.21%), South America (0.29%), Asia (2.07%) and the world (1.63%). Benin and Liberia recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
