Secretary General of the Western Area Football Association (WAFA), Kasho J. Holland Cole, has reacted strongly to an email sent from the football world governing body FIFA, describing it as an “insult”.
In an email correspondence between President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Isha Johansen, and FIFA’s Secretary General, Jerome Valcke, regarding “meeting of supposed SLFA stakeholders” the decision was said to untenable.
“Under these circumstances, any decision taken by the so called steering committee would be considered null and void and the convening of an extraordinary congress would be illegal…”, the FIFA re said.
Referencing that position the WAFA scribe therefore said that “based on this and other information contained in the email therein, posed no threat to us as the stakeholders. But for FIFA to describe us as Supposed SLFA Stakeholders is a slur to our membership,” said Holland-Cole.
He said the email exchanges would not distract them from holding the Extra-Ordinary Congress slated for the 20 December 2014. “We have put in place all logistical arrangements regarding the Congress and as such we are the rightful delegates of the SLFA and the Constitution gives us the mandate to convey an extra-ordinary congress,” he argued.
Holland-Cole claimed that sports was not being administered well in Sierra Leone because as members they would want to know how the association was being administered, adding that it was only at the congress that they would be able to get answers to certain questions.
