The case involving Sulaiman Kargbo, who allegedly posed as a legal practitioner, carrying the name M. S. Kargbo ESQ and acting on behalf of clients Tamba Sulaiman Chendeka and Alhaji Musa Sherriff, has been adjourned for a possible ruling.
The accused is currently under preliminary investigations for nine counts of “unqualified person practising as a legal practitioner, causing money to be paid with intent to defraud and obtaining money by false pretenses”.
It is alleged that on different dates between September 1, 2012 and May 13, 2013, he obtained the sum of US$106,300 for the purchase and documentation of 14.9 carats diamond.
The complainant, Mayour Patel, resident in the United States of America, testified in court as the second prosecution witness. He said that he had been in direct contact with the accused since 2012 but only met him on Tuesday in court. He said he had had several direct contacts with the accused who posed as an attorney.
Tendering records of email, Skype and telephone communications in court, the witness said he eventually came to Sierra Leone and was assured by the other two accused that their attorney was working on their behalf.
Prosecution has closed his case and the matter was adjourned to Thursday 29 August for the defense to also close ahead of a possible ruling.
