SLVA Set for All-Africa Games

The national Volleyball team is in training for the All-Africa games due to take place in Senegal from the 16th to the 18th April 2015. The association's head of commission, Mohamed Benson Bawoh told Politico that their technical team has selected the players who would represent the country in Senegal including star players Patrick Lombi and Abubakarr Kamara in the male category.

He said in the female category Josephine Sesay and Zainab Kamara were selected.

Sorie Kamara, national team coach said his players "are well prepared and determined to participate in the competitions with the aim of winning laurels...they are quite aware of the importance of the competition. The coach commended the efforts of the SLVBA executive in the development of the sport in the country and hoped "the players would benefit greatly and succeed in their volleyball aspirations."

One of the players selected for the tournament, Abu Bakarr Kamara described their selection as "a positive move for us having done well for our country in previous competitions." He said, "it will be a difficult qualifying tournament for us because all participating countries want to qualify as well."

Josephine Sesay of the female team said, "we've been training hard and that will surely be an advantage for us as we face such tough qualifiers."

The teams are expected to depart Freetown on the 14th of April to play against Guinea while host Senegal will play Gambia.
