RICE WAHALA THREATENS TEACHER’S POLITICAL CAREER

The last few months have been somewhat traumatic in the life of TEACHER. He was removed from a very powerful ministry in government and now he has been temporarily “relieved” of his new position because the Big House believes it’s possible he has something to say about how “a huge” consignment of rice donated to this country by the Chinese ended up in what the ACC believes is the wrong place. Now this is potentially very serious stuff because it could wreck an otherwise bright political career.

We understand that the four people thrown out of office by that press release were all interviewed by Afro Boy’s people in the last few weeks or so leading to their sacking.

If TEACHER falls at this hurdle it will be a really mighty fall. TEACHER has a track record of being diligent; a track record of being a loyal servant of the Green Camp since he joined up in Tejan Kabbah days – a real political fire fighter. So we ask, is TEACHER on the brink? As far as we know out here, the ACC is investigating possible shady dealings with the way the rice consignment in question was handled by TEACHER and the others in their time in the Ministry of Education. It emerged in the last 24 hours that the ACC has done further interviews and has put them on bail. The matter is certainly now extremely serious.

All we can do now is to ask our own few questions. Please bear with us.

1. Could it be that the ACC actually asked Principal to relieve these people of their state duties so that they can be charged? We ask because sources that should know have told us the ACC had interviewed them prior to them being sacked. Does the ACC have a SMOKING GUN now?

2. State House says they were being “relieved for the time being”, so that opens up the possibility of them returning should the ACC not bring charges against them? The answer should be a big YES. But is it? How would Principal react?

3. Afro Boy is now eager to prove to the world that he was strong enough to go after even those in government and not simply concentrating on low hanging fruits in the opposition. How could his worldview play out in this potentially massive case?

4. What are the political consequences of putting TEACHER in the dock? He is not above the law but we believe our question is important.

5. Why didn’t the Chinese practice what they preach? They should teach us how to grow rice so that we don’t depend on others for rice supplies that always cause wahala in Sierra Leone.

FROM PARTY CONVENTION TO “PRESS CONFERENCE” NRM STRIKES

The Red Movement that is still led by King Messi is thinking its next moves following their aborted attempt to hold a national conference of delegates of the movement in Portloko. At the eleventh hour, well with delegates already in the town, a leftist group within the movement commonly known as NRM went to court to ask for an injunction against the holding of the conference. They told the court that constitutional questions were left unanswered leading up to the conference and that lower level elections to elect the delegates to the conference were not conducted. The court granted the injunction and asked IG Moigbeh to give effect to the order.

So the Red Movement had no choice but to comply. They went to a small room and came up with the idea of holding a PRESS CONFERENCE instead. What we saw on TV was a replay of the first of only TWO press conferences organized by King Messi in his entire eleven years in office. We are talking in terms of the actual media people who were there and the party loyalists in the hall.

Anyway since then we have read and seen many things on social media about the whole affair. We will be writing about that until the court clears the conference to go on. We can even keep writing till the end of 2020.

Now the Red Movement has to pick up the pieces from the following issues:

1.  The huge money spent on transportation, accommodation and other forms of hospitality. Will the movement bankroll the next one or will they ask those who paid for this one to do so again?

2. The realization that there was real truth in what people said about NRM including the fact that there were men and women in the shadows coordinating the work of those young people publicly driving the NRM train.

3. Talking to each other and arriving at acceptable conclusions is better than threats and war.

4. A very bad signal has now been sent to the world about the tolerance level of the Red Movement. We have just finished reading the angry words of those who claim they were physically assaulted for supporting or appearing to support NRM.

5. They should simply now go to court, present their case and abide by what Hon. Justice Komba Kamanda will tell them. A judgment of that nature should be lying somewhere in that court house from the days when the Green Movement was also busy doing the injunction stuff.

MAKING WEDDING VOWS AS DISAPPOINTED LOVER FIGHTS OUTSIDE

What a way to start the New Year? A man and a woman turn up at a church in central Freetown to consummate their relationship before God and man and before the man could kiss his bride he and the well-dressed wedding guests heard fighting outside as church wardens battled to stop people who feel aggrieved about the process smashing their way into the church to disrupt what they thought was illegal.

Well, we see these kinds of things in Nollywood movies all the time and dismiss them as products of the fertile imagination of movie producers. The truth is we witnessed this on Saturday 11 – 1 – 2020 in Freetown. You will notice that we are holding back some names. We don’t want to embarrass the good people of that church community and those guests who were invited as witnesses to what was supposed to be a great day in the lives of the couple. When the promise of a life-long union begins in this way, surely there are issues to consider regarding the future of this project. Why would this new woman trust this guy in the light of what happened on this day?

1. Sources on the scene told us a woman who has two children by the groom in question actually stormed the church to answer that important question – DOES ANYBODY KNOW OF ANY LAWFUL REASON WHY THESE TWO PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE JOINED IN MARRIAGE? Our lady’s answer was “YES. AND CAN I EXPLAIN”? But she couldn’t get in to speak before God and man.

2. Did the controversial groom give guarantees to our lady that having had two children already meant she would inevitably walk up the aisle? Did he?

3. If the answer is yes, it’s also very important to know when and under which circumstances such a guarantee was given. At certain times people make commitments they do not intend to keep after crossing the river.

4. Maybe no commitment was made but our lady assumed that after having two children from the same guy, it was INEVITABLE that rings would eventually be exchanged. It’s never a good idea to assume things, look for witnesses, and in fact always write things down on paper. We don’t know how even that would have helped stop the weeding but the court of public opinion is a good place to win cases or gain sympathy.

5. Anyway those young guys who were quickly hired to secure the wedding process went back to their Ataya base smiling. It was a good day in the office. The “gron” suddenly became wet. Keep praying guys!
