SOME POLICE RECRUITS REPORTEDLY KICKED OUT FOR BEING ON KUSH

The other day we saw videos of some angry young people outside the Police Training School at Hasting. They were complaining about everything. They described themselves as grassroots party activists of the Green Movement denied a job with the police. According to them, as SLPP activists they were guaranteed some automatic right to be recruited into the Force for Good. We will not engage them on that flawed reasoning but we are here defending their right to say that. They also accused a certain Mr. Johnson of corruption – receiving money from people to recruit them. They produced zero evidence to support that.

Anyway, our sources inside the PTS have called our attention to something else that caused some of those invited to join the police to be quickly kicked out. That group may well include some of those impatient cry babies who took to social media to cry about party grassroots being denied recruitment into the Force for Good. Our sources say some were found to be KUSH addicts. We tried and failed to get names and numbers from our sources but we are putting this out to let the world know that the police appear to be taking action now to prevent KUSH addicts from entering the institution. It’s a great idea because they have to prevent the public embarrassment we witnessed on social media the other day.

Let’s make the following points quickly:

1. Please don’t use the KUSH scare as a means of eliminating potential recruits. Let people be subjected to proper medical checks the results of which will be acceptable to all sides.

2. We don’t want to hear any complaints of people who fail such tests being allowed to proceed because of their contacts in the police or the political arena.

3. In fact, why has the Force for Good not issued a statement clarifying the issues of party activists not being recruited and the corruption allegation against Johnson? We don’t particularly believe what was alleged but we are not your spokespeople. We want to hear from you on both issues.

KENYA AIRWAYS PILOTS ON STRIKE: TROUBLE FOR PASSENGERS

Pilots of Kenya Airways of KQ have walked out about welfare issues leaving many passengers in Sierra Leone and elsewhere stranded. Industrial actions are part of the game but we should never allow them to drag on for too long. KQ runs out of Lungi Airport at least four times every week taking Sierra Leoneans to Accra for connections to Europe and also to the Middle East and China. Many of our people are stranded in all those destinations because of that industrial action in Nairobi.

The other point is we’ve had to rely on the international media to know about the strike by the pilots. What’s happening to the local representatives of KQ? Don’t they think they have a responsibility to tell us what to expect?

In the meantime, other airlines doing this very important link to Accra are attempting to take advantage of the situation by pushing up the cost of tickets. Travel agents are telling people they are fully booked just to find a way of squeezing some cash out of passengers who have urgent business to transact. This cannot continue.

We are calling on the KQ management to negotiate and end the strike. People who operate at 30 thousand kilometers above sea level should be happy people. On the local front we deserve some respect from KQ representatives. They have to tell us what the situation is right now.

WHEN IS THE NEXT LAND RAFFLE MINISTER TURAD SENESSI?

Good Morning Dr. Turad Senessie of the Ministry of Lands. We are looking for an answer to the question above. We asked this question immediately after the last raffle that gave hundreds of ordinary people two plots of land, each in one of the new settlements in the Freetown Peninsula. Some of them told us they couldn’t believe this was happening in the real world, at least the world of the people in this Land that we Love.

Mr. Minister, you don’t need anybody to tell you about the shameful fact of housing being a major problem for millions of Sierra Leoneans. The few Sierra Leoneans who have managed to build something are busy killing others with exorbitant rents, crazy tenancy conditions and the ever present possibility of being thrown out of the property. Again, you know how that affects families. That’s why people now want to have land so they can construct whatever type of dwelling they can as long as they would escape the greed and blackmail of LANDLORDS and bring their children up in peace.

Mr. Minister this is the reason we keep pressing you about the next land raffle. We want to take our chances because we know that’s the only option open to ordinary people like us to own land in this country. Please don’t fall for the political blackmail of those of your PARTY PIKIN who accuse you of not giving them priority in distributing land. You have done the best. Nobody has complained about the way you went about the last raffle. Do it again.

HAS CRISTIANO RONALDO JUST SAID GOODBYE TO OLD TRAFFORD?

We are waiting to see Cristiano Ronaldo in a Manchester United shirt playing at Old Trafford after the World Cup. We may be wrong but we are with those who believe he can only return to that dressing room at Old Trafford as a member of another football team playing against Manchester United. The reception he will get from fans and staff at Old Trafford is predictable.

Yes Ronaldo may have disappointed his colleagues and indeed the Dutch manager who has been so patient but we believe his fire was actually aimed at the GLAZER FAMILY. We don’t want to push too deep into that for now but that’s the fact. We urge all our readers to listen to the full interview and prove us wrong.

There are many people at Old Trafford and around the world who absolutely support his comments about the lack of investment in the team and facilities since Alex Fergusson departed in 2013. Fans have complained and protested and cried but the Glazers have refused to make big investments or to sell the club. Those people now have a powerful ally in Cristiano Ronaldo. Let’s just wait and see how things play out after the World Cup.

Ronaldo wanted to leave at the end of last season. He may well get his wish now because the Glazers are going to terminate his contract and send him on his way but he may well have started something that may end in the Glazers being forced to sell Manchester United.

Why Ronaldo chose a diehard Arsenal fan to grant such an explosive interview to is something he will have to explain. Old Trafford is boiling. Watch the timing of the interview. It’s deliberate. He would have convinced himself that this was the best time to throw this grenade and depart. The jury is still out on how this may affect his legacy.
