Fifth Prosecution Witness, a health Nurse, has during a cross examination in an on-going preliminary investigation (PI) over the killing of Ibrahim Jagitay has insisted that the accused Mohamed Jagitay met him for treatment.
The witness said this when he was responding to questions from defence Lawyer, L. Rashid at the Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on Thursday 23rd November 2023, who asked the witness if he would be surprised to know that the accused was not with him that day, but that he (accused) was somewhere else.
The witness, who said he had known the accused for over ten years in the Calaba Town community and he knew his mother as well, told the court that he was not aware whether the accused was with his uncle searching for the deceased the very day.
The witness had earlier testified on Wednesday 15th November that at 3:30 P.M. Friday 28th July this year, the accused met him with a wound on one of his palms, for which he approached the witness for treatment.
The witness said when he enquired what caused the wound, the accused said he sustained injury when he riding a motor bike.
When further asked whether he was hit by any object like a vehicle and that if there was another person with him on the bike, the 21 year old accused, according to the witness said he was alone and was not hit by any object.
The witness nurse said he then administered treatment -applying three stiches on the wound and told the accused to see him the following day, but said the accused did not show up.
He further told the court that on the 2nd August this year, police invited him at Waterloo Police Station where he was interviewed and made statement in respect of the case.
The 24 year old Ibrahim was until his death, a shop owner at Allentown East of Freetown. His mutilated body was found around Waterloo on 28th July this year. Hearing resumes 30th November this year.
