Sierra Leone's stagnating development

Why, I sometimes wonder, do those at the helm of affairs in the Land That We Love are found wanting in the initiating and sustaining development. I wonder because it is so evident that we are faced with neglect and failure in almost all spheres of development in our country at a time when all others in the sub region are moving ahead very fast.

The aftermath of the Westgate massacre in Nairobi has got everyone looking over their shoulders. The upscale mall was a meeting place for many people especially foreigners working for NGOs and United Nations agencies. I was in Nairobi in April this year and I must have visited that mall some four or five times – mainly because it’s closer to where I always stay when I am in Kenya for work or pleasure.
Travelogue: Between New York and Geneva

New York was my home throughout September, as a fellow of the United Nations. Strictly as planned my fellow fellows and I are now in the Swiss capital on the last leg of our fellowship. For four weeks in one of the world’s busiest and liveliest cities, it was a great experience that I am sure will shape our career for the future.
