Meet a hero police officer in Sierra Leone

By Kemo Cham

A lot of heroic actions take place out there in society but most of them go unnoticed, partly because the heroes and heroines are not lucky to get the public attention.

Last week one happened right in front of me. In fact I was involved, except that I wasn't the hero, far from it. Female OSD officer Constable Isatu Lamrana Jalloh was, and this write-up is about her and how she helped take two "bad" people off the streets of Freetown.

Open Letter to Sierra Leone's President Julius Maada Bio

Greetings Mr. President,

It is with reverence that I write this letter to you, and in consonance with the earlier one I wrote to you about a couple of months ago – or so – I would first of all like to commend your strides towards the fight against the deadly corona virus pandemic. Let me seize this golden opportunity to thank you, the doctors, the nurses, and all other frontline workers. Thank you very much indeed!

The Emergency Cash Transfer is a project supported by the World Bank to help cushion the economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on vulnerable groups of people, including small businesses.

Officials say the set of rules and regulations, termed Enhanced Measures of Covid-19, have already been gazetted and it is expected to be published anytime from now, at which point it becomes law.
