Chief Somanor Karpen had brought together the two obvious fractions within the party to talk to them on the way forward to achieving peace within the party.

Sierra Leone immigration boss gets new mandate

The Chief Immigration Officer, Alpha Kholifa Koroma has had his tenure renewed by President Ernest Bai Koroma for the third consecutive time, becoming the longest-serving head of the department.

Appointed in April 2008 and extended in 2011, he said he was very positive about the extension of his mandate "which is testament to my performance in the department".

Jubilation for Richard Konteh release

There were jubilant scenes in front of the main law courts building in Freetown yesterday following the release on bail of the sacked State House Chief of Staff and two others.

They had spent 10 days at the country’s maximum security prisons at Pademba Road and refused bail by Magistrate Komba Kamanda during three previous appearances.

The three, including timber businessman Alie Suma and customs official Leslie Peter Crosbie, are standing trial bordering on timber export fraud.

Rape saga as China Kingho man to High Court

A magistrate in Pujehun has ordered one Amadu Sesay to stand trial at the High Court in the southern city of Bo for the alleged sexual penetration of a minor, contrary to the Sexual Offences Act 2012.

Sesay is the Liaison Officer for the iron ore miner, China Kingho Investments in the Kpaka and Galliness Perri chiefdoms.
