US Embassy, FBC discuss Artificial Intelligence

The US Embassy in Freetown in partnership with Fourah Bay College (FBC) conducted a Media Literacy Training  on Countering Disinformation, Misinformation and Fake News, with the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the new player.

Addressing the student trainess, the Emerging Voices Specialist at the U.S. Embassy, Abass Kalokoh said that the rise of AI has given birth to new forms of disinformation and misinformation.

Credit Union presents Le 18.8 Billion as savings

The Kenema Cooperative Credit Union can now boast of eighteen thousand eight hundred and forty-seven new Leones as savings from contributions made by its members. The amount was made known in the presentation of the financial report at the union’s second Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on the 23rd of September 2023.  

More adolescent girls need support – Executive Director ActionAid

Despite Action–Aid Sierra Leone’s success stories of returning dropout girls to schools and empowering others with skills training, the institution’s Executive Director Foday Bassie Swaray says there more adolescent girls that desperately need support.

Speaking to Journalists on the 29th September 2023 after an engagement with women in Baoma Chiefdom in Bo District, Swaray stated “We are hopeful and we are praying that we are able to get another extension so that we can support many more girls that need such support”.

Cause of death certificate tendered in court in Waterloo murder case

The second Prosecution Witness (PW2)-Aminata Munu, in an ongoing Murder Preliminary Investigation implicating Alpha Kamara as accused, has tendered the certificate of cause of death of Abubakar Munu to a Magistrate Court in Freetown.

The PW2, a sibling of the deceased while testifying at the Pademba Road Court No.1 on Thursday 28th August 2023, informed the court that on Monday 14th August this year, she got information about his brother the deceased.

SLeCAA works with AU to silence guns

Reacting to a press statement that was put out by Sierra Leone Commission on Arms and Ammunition(SLeCAA) recognizing September as Amnesty Month, the Commissioner of SLeCAA, Binneh K. Conteh has told Politico that Sierra Leone is working with the Africa Union (AU) to ensure that silencing the guns by 2030 is achieved.

EPA Engages Stakeholders on Climate Transparency

Pademba Road prison court frees six
