Defense calls for discharge in piracy case

A defense lawyer in a piracy matter that was charged to court last week has urged the court “to throw the matter out because they have failed to handle the matter as per provisions of the copyright Act”.

Augustine Kailie Musa, lead defense counsel for three accused persons who were arrested and charged to court for allegedly violating the copyright act of 2011, made the plea whiles raising a preliminary objection to the matter being in court before Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No. 2 in Freetown.

SN Brussels “agent” sent to prison for fraud

A 32-year old, who claimed to be an agent for the European airline SN Brussels airline, has been refused bail after he made his first appearance in court on Tuesday for alleged fraud remanded in prison.

Thomas Koroma is standing before Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No. 2 in Freetown on two counts of obtaining money by false pretences after allegedly obtaining US$ 1, 300 from the complainant, Abdul Karim Kanu, on the pretext that he would provide him with an airline ticket to Ukraine.
