The Public Relations Officer of the University of Sierra Leone has disclosed that the administrations of the constituent colleges of the University have decided to "postpone indefinitely" the conduct of students' union elections originally scheduled for June.

Speaking to Politico, Lola Aforo said that "as much as the administrations want students' governments to exist, we can't afford the losses that come with their elections."

A 45-year-old man who was assaulted and bitten on his right hand by his wife Jattu at IDA Section in Kenema has died. Mohamed Alieu was assaulted on the 24th June, 2013, and died six days later at the Kenema Government Hospital.

According to the late man's senior wife, Mamie Mohamed, her husband was very sick and speechless a day after the assault by her co-wife.

The Freetown Waste Management Company has launched a new campaign to clean the city of Freetown. Under an operation codenamed "Bag it and Bin it" the Waste Management company is attempting to educate Freetown residents on the use of the newly introduced  giant black plastic bag by households, cookery sellers, vehicle and shop owners and other groups to deposit domestic garbage.

Mayor Sam Franklyn Bode Gibson encouraged the public to use the bags always for the success of the campaign.

The Manor River Union (MRU) Secretariat has suspended its programme officer, Ayesha Gueye-Massa with a deduction of her salary by a third.

Speaking at a news conference at the MRU Secretariat last week, the union's Deputy Secretary General, Linda Koroma said the secretariat took the action because of a joint letter of complaint written by the three main border units in Koindu, Foya and Nongowa against Madam Gueye-Massa.

The Labour and Industrial Relations Committee of Parliament have paid a fact-finding visit to LEOCEM cement factory in Freetown following the death of two casual workers at the factory nearly two weeks ago. The committee say they are investigating whether the deaths could have been prevented.
