RSLAF certifies 36 Special Forces

After three months of intensive training, the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has officially certified three military officers and 33 other ranks as members of an elite Forces Reconnaissance Unit (FRU) within RSLAF known also as Special Forces.

54 RSLAF personnel were selected for the training but only 36 in all made it through the rigorous training regime.

SLFA inspects Southern Arena Stadium

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has conducted an inspection of the newly constructed 6,000 (six thousand) seater Southern Arena stadium in Bo Southern Sierra Leone, as the association has been mandated by CAF to explore possibilities for the hosting of upcoming International Matches. The country’s Siaka Stevens Stadium is closed to games as it is being extensively rehabilitated.

The inspection took place on Thursday 3rd February, 2023 in a bid to secure CAF certification of the facility. 

5 years in jail for wounding with intent

One Alimamy Sesay of Waterloo has been jailed for five years for wounding one Mohamed Jalloh with intent. Before handing down the sentence Justice Monfred Sesay described the charge on which Sesay was convicted as serious.

The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has agreed with the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) to commence with the drafting of Regulations that will provide for Sierra Leoneans performing this year's pilgrimage in Mecca and subsequent pilgrimages of all Faiths that coincide with general elections, to vote by proxy.

A few months leading to Sierra Leone’s national election, the National Grand Coalition Party (NGC) is on a gradual meltdown as senior party members continue to resign from the party.

Dozens injured in Bo stadium railing collapse

Dozens of school girls in Bo were left injured yesterday after one  of the rail guards on a pavilion in the Bo mini stadium  collapsed during First Lady Fatima Bio’s Sanitary Pads distribution to the girls.

The affected pupils were taken to the Bo Government Hospital which was soon swarmed by panic -stricken parents and guardians anxious to know about the state of their children.
