Female entrepreneurs want business ethics imbibed

As part of celebrations of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Female entrepreneurs have in a panel discussion urged existing intending business owners to ensure they employ good customer relations and trust for the success of their businesses.

Speaking at an event held at the Bank Complex on Wednesday 15th November 2023, Latoya Garber an entrepreneur encouraged other entrepreneurs to ensure branding and effective customer services so that they can stand out despite the competition.

Four more village heads confirmed elected

Four more Village Heads have been confirmed winners following the conclusion of elections in parts of Western Rural District, the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) confirmed in a Press Release dated 14th November 2023.

Abubakarr Barrie won the race in Sussex Village with five hundred and eighty-five votes; Crispin Atkins of Samuel Town got five hundred and fifty, Mohamed Sankoh of Bonga Wharf- two hundred and twenty-six, and Joseph Jalloh of No.2  Village- eight hundred and fifty-nine.

Sierra Leone Financial Secretary says Agric Fund to be established

The Financial Secretary, Mathew Dingie, says monies collected from tax on imported rice will be used for an agricultural development fund that is to be established by Government.

He made the statement at the Government Weekly Press Conference held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 14th November, 2023.

Dingie said the Ministry of Finance will put systems and structures in place that would be transparent in ensuring that taxes collected on rice are used to aid agricultural activities in Sierra Leone.

Makoloh-Mabang Bridge Road to be ready in 14 months

Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, has commissioned the construction of the Makoloh-Mabang Bridge Road which is expected to be completed in fourteen months.

The road’s construction was formally launched on 15th November 2023, though actual work had commenced on the 1st November this year, and to end on the 1st January 2025.

CARL engages stakeholders on Criminal Procedure Bill

The Centre for Accountability and the Rule of Law (CARL) and the Justice Sector Coordination Office (JSCO) have held a two-day stakeholders retreat with Members of Parliament (MPs) of the Legislative Committee and other MPs on the Draft Criminal Procedure Bill, 2023.

The two-day retreat was held at the Sierra Palms Hotel in Freetown on the 14th-15th of November 2023.

PPRC capacitates parties on intra-dispute resolution mechanisms

The Political Parties Regulatory Commission (PPRC) has led an intra-party validation exercise to help parties resolve their internal challenges.

The two-day event from 14th to 15th November was held at the Brookfields Hotel in Freetown where PPRC Chairman, Abdulai Masiambay Bangura expressed satisfaction at the turnout.

 “We want Political Parties to be using the guide to help them resolve their internal problems as they come,” he said.
