AVOID RALLIES IF YOU ARE A FORMER PRIME MINISTER OF PAKISTAN
Imran Khan is recovering from gunshot wounds he sustained the other day as he addressed a massive crowd of supporters in Pakistan. Global news media outlets are reporting that Khan received FOUR bullets on his leg and may well have survived an assassination. In fact, his supporters are quite sure the gunman wanted to take the former world class cricketer out of this world. The shooter is now in custody and Khan is nursing his wounds.
All we can say now is that all former Prime Ministers wishing to return to office again and again like Benjamin Netanyahu should AVOID addressing political rallies in person. Here’s why:
1. It is just possible that a gun man would turn up and shoot you dead or some guy with a bomb tied to his belt will commit suicide and take you along - that’s how Benazir Bhutto - also a former Prime Minister was killed. Khan was also addressing a rally when he was shot.
2. It is also possible that there are some people in that country who hate to see PMs coming back to office. For them, as long as you’ve been thrown out of office, you should stay home and play with your grandchildren.
3. With the explosion in technology the world is witnessing today, comeback PM candidates should be able to address large crowds of supporters even from a cave like the guy in south Lebanon. Be wise guys and don’t take chances.
4. Imran Khan believes that if elections were called today, he will return to power so he is putting pressure on the interim authorities to call elections. That may well be so but he just missed a date with death. Now he will be under pressure to show the world and his supporters that he is NOT a coward. He has to appear before another massive crowd early enough and tell his people that EVEN DEATH CANNOT STOP HIM. Good Luck sir.
VIC FOH SAY PRINCIPAL MUST RETURN TO STATE HOUSE
Vic Foh has told the people in his section of Bo district to send Principal back to the Big House in 2023. Maybe this is not much of a surprise because after failing to land the presidential ticket of his beloved Tolongbo, FOH withdrew to his southern base and linked up with other presidential hopefuls that King Messi skillfully kicked out of the race by anointing Orsamu and Chericoco. He kept in touch with Principal and his other allies in the Green Movement. He didn’t even think twice about making public appearances and speaking at Green Movement functions. It was his own way of telling King Messi he made a huge mistake in deselecting him and that he would fight back.
What last weekend’s public endorsement did for the Green Movement is to mop up the pockets of Tolongbo support dedicatedly cultivated over many years by Vic Foh on the southern flank. There are also people in the Tolongbo team who feel the same way as Foh. They would have no problems working with him to deny anybody anointed by King Messie’s a clear path to State House. They are likely to easily link up with Vic Foh.
On the Green side Principal should be very happy. He has Foh and friends under his belt. He is also likely to get inside details about Tolongbo’s election strategy and other vital pieces of information. Kan Kan Kan and Foh know the Tolongbo of King Messi inside out. Anyway, let’s see what happens as we approach Christmas.
We were told by credible sources that powerful Tolongbo guys in the south have been lined up so they can reject their movement and endorse Principal with Foh encouraging them to do so. We are waiting to report.
HAS PEACE REALLY RETURNED TO ETHIOPIA?
Olusegun Obasanjo has announced a ceasefire in Tigray after helping the government of Ethiopia and the people of Tigray in the north of that country sign some papers in South Africa. The Africa Union organized the conversations that culminated in the signing of a CEASEFIRE. There’s hope across Africa that the needless suffering of the people of Tigray and the regions around them would end immediately. Children should now be able to return to school in peace and play around without their parents thinking about a bomb landing in a playground.
We have to make the point that this is not the first time that such agreements have been reached in this same conflict. Just that the last time it happened; the Tigrayans were perilously close to the seat of federal power in Addis Ababa. Federal authorities were very badly humiliated and vowed to fight another day. Clearly they have won this round and the Tigrayans want a total cessation of hostilities almost immediately because they don’t want federal troops to roam their streets again.
The Africa Union has done well so far and at a time when the big powers are focusing on Russia’s attack on Ukraine and serious domestic challenges at home. This ceasefire must be sustained by all means. We are tired of reading about death and destruction on African soil.
The whole of Africa should now turn attention to the Democratic Republic of Congo. We shall return to this topic some other time but let’s put on record now that DRC has been bleeding for too long. The rebel business there cannot continue beyond December 2022.
