A 3-day training for new members of parliament, especially women MPs, has ended in Freetown. The capacity-building project was implemented by Democracy Sierra Leone in collaboration with Campaign for Good Governance, United Nations Development Fund and Government. During the sessions MPs covered areas including the passage of bills into law, communications opportunities and challenges, women and youth issues in the national budget, key national and international development frameworks, role of opposition in parliament, role of the legislature in fighting corruption and the actualization of the development agenda. Both sides of the political divide expressed appreciation for the training and urged the organisers to help them archive their objectives and move the country forward.
