Sierra Leone Parliament approves Maritime boss, 2 others

By Crispina Cummings

Parliament has approved Alhaji Wuroh Jalloh as the executive director of the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration, Solomon Kargbo as the new petroleum director and Isatu Kamara as the deputy commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action (NACSA).

MPs described Solomon Kargbo as “a hardworking young man” and vouched for his ability, experience and expertise to deliver.

Roland Foday Kargbo, MP, said he believed that the fuel crisis in the country would be minimised.

Gladys Gbappy-Brima Gbomoh, MP, of Consistency 82 in the Moyamba district, said that in her 4-month-long stay in parliament so far, the three were the best nominees for her.

She said the qualifications and wealth of experiences of the trio were indicative of the correctness of the timing to have them appointed to those positions.

Manley Spaine, MP, also praised the trio, especially Mr. Jalloh “for staying the course at the maritime.” He expressed confidence that the maritime boss would deliver.

He, however, cautioned the director against abuse of the level of exposure, power and money, adding that he should not allow himself to be carried away by “those worldly things”.
