The national U-19 cricket team has commenced training at the Kingtom Oval for their participation in the upcoming U-19 cricket world cup championship schedule to take place in August, in Kenya, Nairobi.
According to the Francis Trevor Samura, president of the Sierra Leone cricket Association (SLCA) he said that he is happy with the progress of the training and that his players seem determined to fly the country’s flag high in Kenya.
Samura said that as president he will see that this boys effort do not go invain, as they are going to be motivated and encouraged so that they will have the zeal to play and to put the countryin the limelight at the competition.
16 years old cricketer, Mohamed KBangura said that he started playing at the age of 8 and has won several junior competitions for his Kingtom Academy Secondary School and Midwest cricket club respectively, ‘’I was happy when I was named to join the squad and to start training, I am sure to put up a good performance in Kenya together with my teammates” Bangura promised.
However, the senior national Cricket team is also in preparation to take part in the Mano River Cricket championship which will include the ‘A’ teams of Sierra Leone and Liberia A team later this month, other countries expected to join includes Ghana, Ivory coast and Nigeria.
