Premier League top flight teams FC Kallon and Ports Authority both lost to mid-table opponents Bo Rangers and Gem Stars 2-0 and 2-1 respectively, over the weekend at the Kaytee Field, Kingtom.
This puts East End Lions and Gem Stars at the top of the table with 14 and 13 points each.
The head coach of Gem Stars Christian Cole said ‘’it is high time the dominance by a few clubs stopped, my boys played well and they deserve to win the match. I told them to play very good football and that they did so we have all the three points we needed. Now we are second in the league’’.
He praised his Ports Authority for their "good performance" in the match.
Ken Tabbie, the head coach of Ports Authority expressed dismay over his team’s defeat by the visitors from Tongo and looked forward to better days, ‘’we have a good team and I am sure we will improve rapidly despite the result”.
Coach Charlie Wright of FC Kallon told Politico that his players "lost concentration in the match and that is why our opponents capitalized on that mistake, we hope to bounce back as the league continues”.
For his part Mohamed Rogers, head coach of Bo Rangers said, "we are not surprised that we defeated FC Kallon. We have a clean record over them... the three matches we’ve played in Freetown have shown that my boys are doing well”.
