In his victory speech, he promised to work hard in the interest of all Sierra Leoneans in Senegal in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Embassy in Dakar.Members of the Sierra Leonean community in Senegal have elected, unopposed, Abubakarr Jalloh as their President. He had been challenged by Buba Guiss who withdrew his candidacy a few weeks to polling day, Monday June 23. However, according to Article V Section 10 of the association's constitution, even if only one nomination is received for a given office, the General Assembly must vote for or against the sole candidate in a referendum and shall only take office if he gets more votes. This is to avoid having an undesirable president due to lack of people unwilling to run for office at a particular time. The Independent Electoral Commission therefore held a ballot with Jalloh gaining over 90% of ballots cast. So the experiment was carried out through a secret ballot, which passed off peacefully.
