Fasting starts tomorrow

  • muslim

Minister of Social Welfare, Moijueh Kaikai has told to Politico that the Muslim Holy Month of fasting or Ramadan will start tomorrow, Wednesday 10 July. He said this followed confirmation by Saudi Arabia. Muslim scholar, Sheik Kallay also confirmed the date saying the moon was not sighted last night which was the 29th day of the month of Sha’aban. He said that since the month must be either 29 or 30 days, it followed logic that the month of Ramadan would start tomorrow. The month is regarded holy by Muslims around the world who observe it by abstaining from food and drink from dawn to dusk. (C) Politico 09/07/13
