The Sierra Leone Swimming Association (SLSA) ended a one day swimming championship at the national stadium swimming pool over the weekend.
Swimmers from across the country took part in the event which attracted dignitaries from various sporting disciplines.
In the 50 meters Free Style Osman Kamara came first, second was Moriss Beale and third Sahr James. In the women 50 meters Free Style Ruth Turay was first and second Binta R. Jalloh.
Moris Beale took the lead in the Breast Stroke, followed by Sahr James and Osman Kamara respectively.
The Secretary General of SLSA Mohamed Abdul Turay told this press that this was the first-ever swimming Championship organized by his association. "This is a platform for Swimmers to showcase their talent in swimming for the Barcelona Games scheduled for next month...we have selected three swimmers for the championship. Osman Kamara, Moris Beale and Sahr James will represent the country in the event’’, Turay said.
The Secretary General said they have secured kit sponsorship from Italy called Diana, “they will be in charge of all swimming events both locally and internationally, I want to thank the Italian instructor Mario Franchie who facilitated the sponsorship for the SLWA as this will boost the swimmers morale”.
