Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No. 2 in Freetown has committed to the High Court the matter involving former OSD officer, Christopher Sheriff Kamara, who is alleged to have killed his colleague, Alie Fayandi Koroma.
The 23-year-old accused, who said that he served the police force for four years, allegedly shot and killed the deceased at Cape Road Aberdeen in June this year. He has been under preliminary investigations at the magistrates’ court.
The prosecution relied on the evidence of eight witnesses, amongst them the government consultant pathologist, Dr. Simeon Owizz Koroma. Testifying last week, the pathologist confirmed that the deceased’s death was caused by loss of blood as a result of the gunshot wounds he sustained, adding that the death was “unnatural”.
Magistrate Kamanda ruled that the evidence against the accused was “not only sufficient but also overwhelming”. He observed that there was enough evidence for the accused to be committed to the High Court and ordered that he be remanded until his case comes up.
