Woman gang-raped to death in Pujehun

29-year-old Christina Juma, a cleaner at Lemena guest house was found dead at the Holy Family Primary School last week in Pujehun which the District Medical Officer, Moses Kargbo told Politico was as a result of a gang-rape. Dr Kargbo said that the post-mortem result also showed that the deceased had blood clot on the face and in the left ear. The brother of the deceased, Mohamed J Humper who manages the guest house told Politico that around 7:00 PM on 16 September he was together with the deceased watching a movie at the guess house when she finally took permission at 8:00 pm. Humper said that three of them worked at the guest house and that the normal working hours of the deceased had been in the afternoon, but had to work at night on that day because the other staff, Mamakoh Massaquoi was bereaved of her mother she had to step in her stead. He said the security guards at the guest house opened the back gate for her and she left for home. He said he lived in the same house as the deceased adding that on the fateful night he decided to pass the night at the guest house. Humper said that on the morning of 17 September his other sister, Memunatu Kanneh sent a neighbour to the guest house to enquire whether she was there because they did not see her at home. He said he immediately made a phone call to Memunatu that the deceased left the previous night saying she was going home. He said they even joked that she could have gone to her boyfriend. According to Humper said that around 10:00 am some boys who were around to play discovered the corpse lying on the grass by the school toilet and rushed to their teachers shouting that a mad woman had been found lying by the school toilet”. He said he finally discovered that the corpse was his sister, and they rushed to the police station to make a report. He said the police immediately called the DMO, D Moses Kargbo for a post mortem examination which proved that she died of a gang rape.
