US$20,000 to boost Pujehun education

World Vision Sierra Leone through its Gallinas Perri Area Development Program (ADP) has donated textbooks covering four core subject areas and sports items including footballs, trophies, school bells and football nets to 32 primary and two junior secondary schools in the chiefdom.

The acting ADP manager, Thomas Kpanabom said the books were on Mathematics, English, Social Studies and Integrated Science worth US$20,000 and cautioned beneficiary head teachers to take proper care of the items.

He also encouraged pupils to make good use of the learning materials, adding that he was impressed with the performance of Bumpeh Junior Secondary school in the 2013 Basic Education Certificate Examinations.

He told Politico that 20 teachers in the chiefdom had been to Bo Teachers’ College at Njala Bo campus in August for a month for service training by their organisation.

Paramount Chief of Gallinas Perri, Alhaji Issa Baima Kamara Koroma thanked the organisation for the donation and encouraged the benefactors to do more,. He said they were a leading development organisation in his chiefdom, promising them good working relationship.

Dauda Rogers, principal of Bumpeh Junior Secondary School, commended the World Vision for their support and admonished girls against teenage pregnancy.

He told Politico that his school got the best BECE results in the district in 2013 and promised parents that such performance would be replicated.
