Member of Parliament for Constituency 93 has donated 30 bundles of corrugated iron sheets to the people of Mammah Beach in the Freetown Peninsular where 21 houses were destroyed by fire in December last year.
Dauda Kallon also donated two bales of used clothing for the fire victims.
Receiving the items, the headman of the village, Desmond Benga said his community appreciated the donation, noting that their MP "demonstrated that he’s a leader because as soon as the disaster took place and he heard of it, he made sure he visited to see how he could help".
The headman said the corrugated iron sheets would be distributed to those who lost their homes in the fire.
Tom Douglas, one of the victims of the fire accident, said the gift came at the right time to "protect us in the coming rainy season".
Kallon also donated 100 bags of cement to the people of Kissy Town for the building of their community center. He said he was only performing his duties by "helping in the little way I can". He urged the young people of the area to participate in the building of the community center and urged them to eschew violence at all times.
The village headman said the MP "has proved that he’s with his people and has their concern at heart".
