A presidential candidate in the fourth coming SLFA 2012 presidential elections Rodney Michael on Monday June 18th said, “Football must be played” in every region of Sierra Leone. Michael made the statement while presenting two hundred Pro -Trainer types of FIFA footballs to all Regional Football Associations on behalf of the Edmond Michael Foundation, named after his father.
He said besides football, the foundation, is also working in the area of education and that at present they have ninety children below the age of seventeen and thirty senior players benefiting from the charity.”
Handing over the balls to the beneficiaries, head of the Rodney Michael campaign team Idriss Mago Tarawally said all the national teams in the country will soon receive support from the foundation.
Mr. Tarawally used the opportunity to announce the names of nominees for the Rodney Michael led team vying for respective positions in the fourth coming SLFA elective congress. He confirmed that, Rodney Michael will be contesting for the presidency, Mohamed Jabbie from the Eastern region will go for VP1, Idriss Mago Tarawaly from the Western Area will vie for the VP2 position. Sadique Kofie Deen Nyakoh of the Southern Region and Jorggoh Barrie of the Northern Region are both hoping to be Ex-officio members.
Ag. General Secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Abdul Rahman Swaray, praised Rodney Michael for his timely intervention in complementing the effort of the FA in promoting football in the country.
Secretary General Bo District Football Association Mohamed Lamin Sesay on behalf of the beneficiaries thanked the CEO of the Foundation and promised every team in his region receive their share of the gift from the Edmond Michael Foundation.
