The Medical Doctor of the Sierra Leone delegation Dr. Patrick Coker who also doubles as Vice President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) has said that doping is all about cheating which the entire International Olympic Committee is against.
He made the statement after some athletes tested positive a few days into the games.
He said the Olympic Games is about fair play and athletes must compete on the same level playing field.
Dr. Coker said testing athletes is not intended to punish but to prevent other athletes from taking drugs during such games.
Asked about the state of Sierra Leone athletes in relation to doping, he said Sierra Leonean athletes are not known for doping, “which is why we lecture them all the time about the dangers.”
