The leader and presidential candidate of the People's Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC), has named his running mate.
Charles Francis Margai says his name will be on the same ballot as Osman Kamara for the 2012 presidential election. He made the announcement in Kambia yesterday.
PMDC's Head of Media, Raymond Bamedale-Thompson told POLITICO Osman Kamara was chosen “based on the victimization he suffered from the Sierra Leone People's Party ” in 2007. He said Kamara “faced a lot of criticism and humiliation in 2007, which made him to resign from the police”.
Bamidele-Thompson expressed optimism that with a northerner as their running-mate PMDC would “definitely sweep huge votes” in the North. He commended Charles Margai for the appointment.
Osman Kamara is a Temne born in Kambia. He had a brief stint in journalism writing for the New Breed newspaper before joining the police where he became a Local Unit Commander assigned in Kailahun where he resigned in 2007.
