Cristian Font Calderon, the Spanish Ambassador in the Republic of Guinea, on 2nd November made a familiarization visit to the Sierra Leone embassy in Guinea.

According to a news dispatch sent to Politico from the Sierra Leone mission, Mr Calderon held discussion with Ambassador Alimamy H. Bangura, where the former reportedly expressed his desire to visit Sierra Leone by early next year.

Calderon, according to the news dispatch, hoped that such a visit would create an opportunity for the convening of an economic forum in Sierra Leone.

In response, Ambassador Bangura welcomed Calderon’s proposal, noting that it had always been the expectation of his government to establish an economic relationship with countries around the world.

During the discussions, Ambassador Calderon however expressed concern about the relationship between Guinea and Sierra Leone. But Ambassador Bangura, according to the news release, allayed the fears of his guest, assuring him that the two countries have always been in a very cordial relationship.

“We have been like a family and that bond between Sierra Leone and Guinea is too tight for anything to break it,” Bangura was quoted saying.
