The Mayor of the Koidu New Sembehun City Council, Saa Emmerson Lamina is off to New York today as guest of the Kono Progressive Union, New York branch. During his 10-day visit he will meet with the Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg. He will also attend the first annual fundraising event organized by the union on Saturday 16 February in the Bronx. Proceeds from the event will go towards the Maternity Wing of the Koidu Government Hospital in Koidu. Mayor Lamina will visit at least five other states including Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Maryland where he will attend other fund-raising events and pay a courtesy call on various dignitaries among them the Sierra Leone Ambassador in Washington DC.
