24 teams are set to take part in this year’s competition, according to the organisation's Secretary General.
Abdulai Bundu told Politico that “this country is blessed with good players but what normally affects them is their graduation to the senior team which is normally not properly handled... as an association we are coming up with this competition to expose these young lads with their God-given talents for the public to see and also serve as a platform for our local coaches to identify talents”.
He said the competition will be governed by rules and regulations and all teams are expected to obey them as they fight for the Mackie Trophy.
The Secretary General said they are still looking for sponsorship but the national telecommunication company Sierratel "are coming closer to help us for now".
