The Team Manager for Premier League giants, Kamboi Eagles, Ali El-Ali (Aliloma) has told Politico that they are ready to represent the country in the forthcoming CAF competitions.
Aliloma said they know by the virtue of their position in the league that they are already qualified to play on the continent next season.
“We are second in the league; we know we have already qualified. We are just waiting for the FA to make the final decision. The only thing we don’t know is whether we will be playing in the Champions League or the Confederations Cup,” he said.
Just over a week ago, the Premier League Board, in consultations with all 14 teams in the league, shortlisted three teams to engage and decide on the two representatives for the country, after the league was cancelled for the rest of the season.
Kamboi Eagles, Bo Rangers and East End Lions made the shortlist.
Rangers last week announced that they will not represent the country if they are not declared as champions. Their decision means Lions and Eagles are perhaps the only two in contention for the two spots.
The FA is expected to make a final decision in the coming weeks.
Aliloma said they are already planning for the competition.
“We have plans that we will not reveal to the public, but once the decision is announced we will announce some of the plans we have been working on,” he said.
Eagles were 2nd with 22 points after 12 games when the league was halted in March this year.
Lions are 5th with 20 points after 10 games, and Rangers are top with 23 points after 13 games.
