1,000 clients for BBN counselling centre

A Christian broadcaster, Believers' Broadcasting Network (BBN), which also runs a counselling service recorded its 1,000th client at its centre in its two years of operation.

Speaking at a programme to mark the event, the Chief Executive Officer of BBN, Ransford Wright said the "walk-in counselling centre is a novelty in Sierra Leone and has alleviated the many psychosocial dilemmas facing society on a personal scale". He said the 1,000th client was a "God-sent" as the clients "finally found a place to unravel the burning issues disturbing their peace of mind while discovering solutions here".

Wright said, "It's no secret that we run a Christian counselling service. However, we see an increasing number of Muslims coming for counselling too. That itself adds beauty to our work". He said theirs was a "non-discriminatory, non-judgmental, inter-denominational and above all professional service."

Daphne Hyde, the manager of the centre said, "God has been using our team of experienced, sprit-filled and well-trained counselors to minister encouragement, solutions, healing, salvation and restoration to clients through the Holy Spirit".

She said they employ a "participatory approach which empowers the client with tools to handle subsequent situations should they reoccur...we don’t give advice at the center, but provide an atmosphere where people can talk about the issues bothering them and through the use of professional skills, bring clients to talk and break out of the ugly situation facing them."
