Africell awards 432 subscribers

432 subscribers to the mobile phone telecoms company, Africell have received cash awards as part of the company’s “play and win” promotion.

The promotion, which was launched in June to run alongside the just-concluded World Cup, aimed at “giving away” a total sum of Le 500 million to “faithful and active subscribers”, according to the company’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Joe Abass Bangura.

Speaking at the fourth presentation ceremony last week, Bangura explained that as the promotion rode alongside the FIFA World Cup tournament, it had about three days more to go “with millions of Leones still to be won. But we are full of surprises”.

He encouraged Africell subscribers to continue sending blank SMSes to or calling 777 so as to automatically qualify to participate in the daily draws. he said every call or SMS would incur a charge of 10 units but that 10 units would be sent back to the subscriber which must be used up by midnight on the same day.

He said the show would be aired live on SLBC and on Africa Independent Radio as well as all major radio stations across the country.

Bangura said the final stage of the draw would be to locate, amongst an array of golden footballs, the one containing the golden coin, the star prize of the day. He said all winnings would be shared equally between the studio and phone participants, adding that where participants failed to win any prizes on the show they would receive consolation prizes.

The Chief Corporate Affairs Officer revealed that of the Le 500 million set aside, Le 231,400,000 had been won by 432 subscribers.
