Public Relations Officer for premier league club, Bo Rangers, Solomon Demby, has told Politico that their club house is on track to completion by the end of July. The construction project reached a new height when the building was roofed last month.
“We have spoken with the contractors and told them that we will need the building by the end of July. And we have all agreed on that, so we are on the same page,” Demby said.
Bo Rangers are the only premier league club in the Southern region of Sierra Leone. They were the leaders before the abrupt disruption of the league due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Prior to the start of the season, the club recruited players from all regions in the country, this meant that the club had to spend extra to permanently house the players in the country’s second capital.
A massive project like this comes with huge expenditure. Demby said they have raised all the funds through support from their fans.
“We have been very lucky, because we have one of the most committed fans in the country. All the money we have used on this project has come from monthly contributions and donations,” Demby said.
“Even when the season has stopped, they are still paying.” he added.
When completed, Rangers will be the first premier league club in the country to have such a major infrastructure.
Demby said players are already excited about moving in.
The complex is being built not just to house players, adjustments in design specifications will now see club secretariat built at the complex for club executives.
Officials say the medical staff will also reside permanently with the players.
