The First Prosecution Witness in the preliminary investigation process for the alleged murder of 68-year-old Gillis Edwin Ola Johnson has testified before a magistrate in Freetown.
Detective Sergeant 9546 Ahmed Conteh said on the 11th March this year, the day of the alleged murder incident, he was instructed by his boss, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lahai Marah to visit the crime scene at 54 Victoria Street, the dwelling house of the deceased. He said on arrival he met ASP Lahai Marah and other police personnel and observed that the deceased was in a pool of blood with a cut on his throat and that two blue and two red pens were thrust into his throat.
Led in evidence by the State Prosecutor, Umu Sumaray, the witness told the court of how he took photographs of the deceased using his digital camera. He said the remains of the deceased were then taken to the Connaught hospital mortuary.
Detective Conteh said he later developed the photos and printed them out. He tendered them as evidence.
After his testimony, defense counsel A.G Kamanda, requested for an adjournment for the substantive lawyer, Emmanuel T. Koroma who was absent to cross-examine the witness.
The accused, Arun Conteh is on remand while Magistrate, Mark Ngegba adjourned the case to 30 of May this year.
Friends and Family members of the deceased Providence Secondary School Teacher packed the courtroom.
